First Baptist was organized in 1873 in the Lincoln County Courthouse, a two story building owned by Abraham Ray and later sold to the county.  Star City was only 2 years old when the church organized.  We do not know the names of all the charter members as the early minutes were lost in a fire.  However, some of the members are known and they include Dr. A.G. Anderson, Mrs. M.E. Adams, Iverson S. Goodwin (the first mayor of Star City and the first church clerk), Ebenezer V. Hellums, A. M. Atkinson, E. S Ellis, and Mrs. C. H Lyman.  These names were obtained from Friendship Association Minutes and an old church bulletin.

First Baptist Church was a member of the Friendship Association from 1874-1918 when the Harmony Association was organized here.

The first church building was erected in 1880.  This building served the church for forty-six years and the stucco building was erected in 1926  The stucco building was used fifty years when the present building was constructed with Dennis Dodson pastor.

In addition to the Sanctuary, the educational building was constructed in 1928 while Don Cooper was pastor.  The Family Life Center was constructed in 2009 while Stephen Beavers was pastor
